Head of Design

Reporting to: Global Marketing Director and VP of Engineering

The Head of Design will be responsible for interpreting briefs and turning them into creative solutions, delivering high-quality products, overseeing design teams, and trouble-shooting design problems.

To be a successful Head of Design, the leader should be able to adhere to tight deadlines and manage budget constraints to deliver a great product and experience. Ultimately, a top-notch Head of Design must be a skilled manager of creative teams (including but not limited to: art directors, copywriters, content strategists, graphic artists, and designers) and an effective communicator, especially when it comes to relaying creative concepts to design teams and company stakeholders.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, developing, and inspiring the design team

  • Managing and guiding product design strategy

  • Meeting with internal and external stakeholders to discuss their needs and the design elements they want.

  • Interpreting abstract business concepts and briefs and turning them into creative ideas.

  • Developing strategic design plans with projected timelines and budgets.

  • Creating storyboards and mockups for stakeholders and the design team to visualize the completed project.

  • Pitching ideas and the creative vision to the stakeholders and communicating the project outline to the design team.

  • Choosing the design elements for different projects.

  • Overseeing the design projects, from start to finish, and monitoring the staff members to ensure they adhere to the budget and timeline constraints.

  • Reviewing feedback from clients and making alterations according to the clients' needs.

  • Analyzing market research to create more effective designs.



  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in graphic design, fine arts, advertising, or a related field.

  • A minimum of five years' managerial or senior-level design experience, preferably in product design, user journey mapping and flow analysis.

  • Experience with User Interface and User Experience

  • Front end coding experience

  • In-depth knowledge of graphic design and related tools.

  • Excellent leadership, organization, and analytical skills.

  • Great time management and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to resolve complex design and communication issues.

  • Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and determine a plan that will ensure they are met or exceeded.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.

  • Extensive supervisory experience (including leadership, team-building, and delegation) leading and managing a creative team.

  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.

  • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
